The www.brookfieldnow.com blogs that talked about the private property to the east of the dog park trails are no longer working. To summarize, the area east of the dog park and north of River Road, this is the area including where the junk cars and trucks are, is private property. It is owned by someone in Grafton. The city was contacted by a blogger and was told that there is an ordinance about junk on private property and that it would be investigated in the spring. This was last year so they meant spring of 2007.
I have seen no changes there so can only suspect that the city doesn't want to do anything about it and asked for the articles to be removed from the BrookfieldNow website.
The message to take from all of this is that:
The land is private.
There are no signs indicating such or prohibiting trespassing.
I do not know if entry to the land is legal. I'd like to think that it is as long as there are no signs saying otherwise.
If you choose to hike in that area, do so at your own risk knowing that there is lots of rusty metal and broken glass which is a hazard to you and you dog!
